Attention Titans! Have you noticed the change in seating in a few of your classes? If you’ve taken a trip to a CTE class or even Mr.Vukich’s room, you probably have. These new desks are very different from class desks and tables. They are in the shape of a triangle and even have wheels. You can connect four of these desks together to make one square table. The desks can even be locked so your desk doesn’t roll while you’re trying to do your work.

Mr.Vukich and Ms.Vanhuysse are both utilizing these new desks. They are a few of the teachers district wide that are piloting alternate forms of classroom furniture to determine if they aid students in the learning process. If the desks receive positive results more may be purchased in the future for more classrooms. The purchase of these initial desks were funded by the district.

Mr.Vukich was specifically chosen to pilot these new designs because he is on the district’s Technology Bond Committee. Mr.Vukich is optimistic about the possiblities presented by these new desks in his classroom.

“I think they give the room more of a college kind of a feel. Plus the tables and the rolling chairs make it easier for students to collaborate and work in groups.”

Students have an opinion about these new desks too.  “The new desks are nice. They give a different setting to the classroom and they are a lot nicer than the old desks,” Kiana Wimberly ’18 said.

If you haven’t seen these new desks, you have to check them out soon because you may be sitting in on in the very near future…
