The Warren Woods Tower football was heart broken at the end of the season when Coach Mike Mahar decided to step down as the head coach. Mr. Ackerman, WWT Athletic Director, began the search for a new coach on November 19. He knew it would be a tough task replacing Mike Mahar after leading the team to two consecutive playoff trips just in three years as the head coach.

It looks that they have found the man to take the responsibility as the head coach. It will be the defensive coordinator Al Gulick taking over the position from his long time friend Mike Mahar. “I am humbled, proud, and excited to be the next head football coach at Warren Woods Tower. Proud to be a Titan,” Gulick tweeted out to the Warren Woods community.

The players of the team went from being down from Mike Mahar leaving to knowing that a coach they liked would take over the job, Coach Gulick. “Man I am so ready for football now knowing that Gulick got the job, he is the man for the job I believe,” Charles Barnes 16′ said. ” I am going out and recruiting students from the school that played for Gulick before to build on from our team from last year,” Barnes stated.

From the sounds of it the students and players really like fact that Gulick is becoming the head coach. ” When I heard the news I knew instantly that I was going to play next season for my senior year. I realize that I should have played starting freshman year because now I see what I was missing out on in high school was a brotherhood,” Robert Anderson 16′ stated.

The seniors that are graduating are very excited for the underclassmen because they are leaving and knowing that the players have a coach that they still trust. ” I was too pumped when I heard Gulick got the job as the head coach,” Tyler Vargo 15′ stated. ” I am coming back to coach with him after I graduate to keep the train moving from where we left it as seniors because we left a good legacy and now it is their turn to finish what we started,” Vargo stated.

There you have it Al Gulick gets the head coach job and has all the support he needs to take this team on a run. Team 32 left the legacy and the seniors say that Team 33 is going to finish it. As the off season has started Team 33 is working hard playing a winter sport or lifting weights all for the man in charge Al Gulick.
