For the past two years, Interact has made possible the Pennies for Pasta program at Warren Woods Tower. They are continuing Pennies for Pasta this school year and are hoping for more participation from students. Students wishing to donate can do so beginning October 3rd in their fifth hour and they will be accepted up to October 14th.

All donations raised in Pennies for Pasta will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. LLS was founded in 1949 and has grown to become the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated solely to blood cancer. The society supports research of other blood cancers and diseases such as Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.

Last year approximately $1300 was raised. Compared to the $300 raised during its inaugural year, Pennies for Pasta has seen a tremendous rise in participation and donations.

Logan Bradley '15 donates his change in Mrs. Curcio's Pasta For Pennies box. These boxes are located and every room and ready for your dontations!

“The support from the school has just been tremendous. Even the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society gave us recognition last year for how much we raised,” Ms. Conley, Interact’s advisor, said. This year, Interact is hoping for even more student contributions and hope to surpass last year’s total by at least 10%.

Not only are the donations benefitting a good cause, but there is a nice incentive for the class that raises the most. Interact is determining the winners by dividing the earnings by the number of students in the class. Those in the winning class will receive a pasta party sponsored by Olive Garden.
