Cross country, girl’s swim and volleyball have played well during their seasons and now are on the track to reign in districts, divisions, and regionals. All the athletes have aimed to make the best out of their time on their teams and hope to keep progressing.

Girl’s varsity volleyball had a league record of 9-1 at the end of their season. They are anticipating districts’ challenging opponents, which starts on November 1st, where they will be competing against Sterling Heights. “We’re excited and feel we have a good chance. Getting through the first game is going to be the hardest.” Gabrielle Wilson ‘12 declared. The girl’s volleyball team must bring their swag to the game, and prove that they are the best team they can be.

Cross country attended their regional meet on Saturday, October 29th. Both girls and boys participated and everyone was ready to take the last train to victory. “Our team is doing really good with teamwork and we think that we will do well.” Jazmine Gonzalez ’14 said. The girls aim to bring home a good run.

Also, the boys cross country were looking forward to regionals. Senior Dale David has had own personal goals. “Being a senior, I’m expecting to do my best, [and] leave this year with no regrets.” Members having ambition going into a cut-throat meet like regionals helps gives Woods-Tower a competitive edge.

November 4th and 5th is the girl’s swim MAC gold division meet. The team has been successful in their previous meets, but expect to really push it out for divisions. “We hope to do better than last year.” Evie Walper ’13 said. With aspirations and immense drive, the girls swim team can coast their way to the top of the gold division.

Even though these fall sports are coming to an end, they are making memories of their 2011 teams that will last forever. Whether it’s a senior remembering his final run or a freshman waiting to steal the spotlight, all the athletes walk away with a smile on their face.
