Lychansia Lee

Nominated by: Profesora Rokicki

“She has really improved her Spanish skills this year. She has been more outgoing in class and has even volunteered to be a dancer for the Justo concert which is totally out of her comfort zone. She has become much more involved in the classroom environment. I am proud of her!”

Katie Miller

Nominated by: Ms. Szubelak

“Katie is a delight to have in class. She is attentive and cares about her studies. She is always nice to all of her peers. She works hard to do well and has great potential to be successful in all she chooses to do.”

Anders Renstrom

Nominated by: Mr. Dougherty

“Anders is an exchange student from Sweden. Being in a U.S. History class requires him to study a history he’s not familiar with and to learn to read and write about it in a non-native language. Last card marking, he struggled a little with some of the essay tests and I could tell that this frustrated him. Instead of giving up though, he worked twice as hard and earned a perfect score on his essay test on the Vietnam War the first time that he took it. This proved Anders’ resiliency, hard work, strength of character, and intelligence. He does not need perfect grades to stay in this program, but he wanted to prove to himself and to me that he is capable of mastering an essay about U.S. History in English. He knocked it out of the park (to use an American baseball reference that I’ll have to explain to him)”

Nancy Tran

Nominated by: Mrs. Flanigan

“Outstanding work ethic!”

Kevin Buchanan

Nominated by: Mr. Delaney

“Kevin often volunteers to help the students in the POHI classrooms, as well as the staff. He is always polite and is a hard worker.”
