I want something savory, yet with subtle spices, where do I turn to? I go to Oasis and am given a menu full of delectable dishes. There are salads, sandwiches, and even party platters! There are even spinach and meat pies! The choices are endless. The restaurant is also well put together and the prices are great. Come to Oasis for your Mediterranean craving.

The restaurant is more on the smaller side, but it definitely does not affect the experience or atmosphere you get from the store. There are booths along the wall and tables in the inner portion of the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and oddly, kept at the right temperature. My favorite part about the set-up though, is the outdoor patio. There are lots of little places to sit in this form of a green room tent. You can be under the sun, yet be protected from the wind. Shawarma and the sun is one of the best combos.

Shawarma is a pita filled with shredded meat, typically chicken or steak, layered with a garlic sauce, bedded on lettuce, pickles, sometimes tomatoes. It is my favorite item on the menu. It is also the perfect size, not too big, but not small in the least bit. The pita bread is soft and fluffy. The meat is spiced just right. I always taste a hint of nutmeg. The veggies accommodate the meat. The garlic sauce is to die for. It’s so flavorful and salty, it makes my mouth water.  I always order the #11 Chicken Shawarma.

Shawarma lover Nusrat Sultana ‘16 describes her first time experience with Oasis. “I liked the shawarma and fries from Oasis. The chicken inside was nicely cooked and soft. They didn’t put too much garlic sauce inside and the pita was soft yet crispy. I’m very picky with shawarmas. I find that most places add too much meat or not enough sauce. The fries were nicely salted and crispy too,” says Nusrat.

Food is not the only thing Oasis is good at, they also make some fancy drinks. Smoothies, cocktails, and juices! They are so good! I always get the fruit cocktail which includes strawberry, banana, apple, carrot, and mango, all blended with ice and honey. It tastes the best eaten alongside the shawarma and a side of fries.

“They use fresh ingredients and it’s so flavorful. I get the fruit smoothie every time,” says long time customer Shariq Kamran ‘16.

Better than the food are the prices! There are no rip-offs at this restaurant. One shawarma, is $4.00 and most sandwiches are the same price. The fruit cocktail is also $4.00 which is perfect considering there are six fresh ingredients in the drink. With just five bucks you can get a filling sandwich, with ten, you can get a fresh smoothie and a shawarma.
