It’s time for Kroger’s 6th annual “I Can Make History” Contest celebrating Black History Month and the countless others who are working to better our communities today –and we’re offering more prizes than ever. This year, Kroger will award more than $67,000 in scholarships, laptop computers and family field trips to student winners in four categories: art, essay, music and poetry.

The Contest also includes two new prizes:

  • A $5,000 School Leadership Award presented to the school with the most winning entries in the combined categories
  • A $3,000 Best in Show Scholarship awarded to the entry, among all four categories, receiving the highest score from the judges.

Kroger’s “I Can Make History” Contest is open to students in the 4th through 12th grades attending a Michigan school. Each entry must be a student’s original work; with one entry accepted per student, per category. Entry deadline is 5p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013, with all entries judged by an independent organization. Winners will be notified by April 1, 2013 and invited to attend an awards luncheon held April 13, 2013.

Every student entering must complete an application and submit a signed authorization form. The latter gives Kroger permission to display each winning entry at various venues in Michigan You, your teachers and students can learn more at  http://icanmakehistory.com/ , which also offers additional registration forms.
