This years MLB playoffs are off to a heated start. The Cleveland Indians are sweeping the playoffs because of their phenomenal hitting. On the other side the Chicago cubs are rolling with their fantastic pitching. Both of the teams have great managers who’ve had experience with many different teams. The Indians have not won the World Series in 67 years (1948). The cubs have not won it since 1908.

The Cleveland Indians, Mike Napoli and Carlos Santana, both hit 34 home runs in the regular season. Both of these players also hit 2 more additional home runs in the playoffs. This season the Indians had five players bat a .301 or better. Not only did the Indians hitting stand out but so did the Chicago cubs. Kris Bryant hit 39 home runs while Anthony Rizzo hit 32 home runs. The team together combined for 199 home runs and a .256 batting average. They also had five players bat a .299 or better. This is a great reason why both teams deserve to be in the World Series.

Connor Turney’17 stated his opinion on the game, “I don’t think that the cubs will make it. The manager is rolling on luck and luck will eventually run out.” The dodgers have a WHIP of 1.32 and have three pitchers with a 0.00 ERA in the playoffs. They also have a total of 199 home runs this season, with ten coming in the playoffs. They have thirteen players batting over a .250. Justin Turner and Yasmani Grandal both hit 27 home runs this year. Other then these statements, true fans will stick with their team through struggles, like Mr. Henry said “I have been a cubs fan all my life and I believe they will do great things.”

The Chicago cubs have outstanding pitching. They have an overall ERA of 3.15 in 1459 innings pitched. They have only given up a total of 169 home runs. They have a WHIP of 1.11 over the whole season. The Cleveland Indians have good pitching also. They have a ERA of 3.84 this season. They gave up 186 home runs this season, but they have a WHIP of 1.24. Both bullpens have immaculate pitchers with outstanding records.

Although this year’s season has been up and down with every team due to injuries, the great teams managed to last the whole way. With Terry Francona and Joe Maddon as skippers of the two teams, anything is possible. These two teams are awesome and have amazing players. These teams should put on a great World Series, that might even last the full seven games. It is not gonna be easy for either of them to win it all due to the outstanding pitching matchups.
