It’s no secret that the Detroit Tigers bottomed out pretty hard last season, finishing at just 64-98. Although, the season fell short in the eyes of the Tigers faithful, if you look close then you’d know that there’s actually a lot to be excited about for the upcoming season.
After last years’ dump off of man star players like J.D Martinez, Justin Upton, and Justin Verlander, it was pretty clear that this organization had a goal solely in mind; rebuilding. The Tigers were able to acquire several key pieces when they traded away J.D Martinez to the Diamondbacks. Among them is infielder Dawel Lugo, who’s currently the number four ranked prospect in all of baseball. The Tigers were also able to acquire infielders Sergio Alcantara, and Jose King.
The Tigers also picked up more notable prospects, among them are Pitcher Franklin Perez (No.3), Daz Cameron (No.9), and Jake Rodgers (No.11). They were each picked up from the Astros organization in a blockbuster trade in which they received Justin Verlander.
The reason that there is a lot to be excited about when it comes to Detroit baseball, is how well the roster is mixed between more veteran players like Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez, to name a few.
Tigers opening day is scheduled for March 31st at 1:00 PM and will air on Fox Sports Detroit, so you can see what the hype is all about and be able to gear up for another exciting 162 games!
